A Poem For The Summer

run away into the woods with me,
we'll have dew drops for breakfast and seashells for lunch
we'll tangle through tiresome trees and thicket
afternoons winding together the way they do in a dream

i'm thankful for this summer,
thunderstorms and their endless bone rattle,
swallows and their flirt with falling,
the way wind whispers through willow branches,
and how your laugh bubble pops in your throat

then,
we can come back to the city,
sloppy singing on moonlight drive,
stars are pouring out of my mouth,
and i love you,
i still love you
